Hi, we're Jason and Merrielle.
This is our story...
Our leading to adopt from overseas came from exposure to the need. We are both greatly burdened with the unfairness that some kids don’t have parents to say, “I love you” and “Good Night” to them. In April 2006, we began a journey to bring one of those orphans into our home.

Today we were awarded premission to travel overseas to begin the legal proceedings to attempt to make the beautiful child we met in November a part of our family!
With just over a week before we need to step onto a plane, we're scrambling to pull all of the details for our trip together.
We're much closer to having the funds we need, but with such short notice, many things (visa applications, plane tickets, etc) may be much more expensive than we had hoped.
Prayerfully, our next post on this site will be a "welcome to the family" one!

In November, we had a great visit with a cute little girl. We can’t wait to make her part of our family!
We have been busy completing additional paperwork necessary to bring her home. Our agency has graciously reduced or waived many fees for us since this is our second attempt.
The only money left to raise is for airline tickets and food/lodging on the trip to pick her up!

Today we got the call that we have been waiting 1 year, 6 months, 2 weeks and 2 days to get.
We got matched with a child!
We don’t know a lot of details about our future daughter, but we’re excited to meet her for the first time in a little over 2 weeks!

We learned this morning that our petition to adopt SuperHero was denied last week. The judge has placed her in the custody of her aunt. Being adopted into a loving home within her own family, language, culture and country is the "best case scenario" for any child, but we are still brokenhearted and disappointed.
We’ve always prayed that God would "do what’s best for SuperHero" as well as "provide us with a daughter". We trust that He has done the former and expectant that He will eventually complete the latter.
At this time, we intend to continue pursuing an international adoption from Russia as we feel confident that this is still God’s plan for our family.

Just this morning a generous donor called with a $5000 matching gift! He will match, up to $5000, what we raise in the next 30 days. We're praying for 5 people to commit gifts of $1000. We’ll keep you updated.

We received a bit of news this week from our agency: “By my prognosis, the court date will be in the first half of July... If I have any news in May, I will let you know asap.” We miss the little girl terribly and hope to hear something daily – but don’t expect to hear anything until mid-June. Right now we have about 1/5th of the financial resources that we need for the next trip. We are confident that the rest will be provided!

We have arrived home safely, but we don’t know when we will be invited to return overseas. We are still praying that this is the child we get to bring home are confident that God is at work.

The judge postponed our case for three more months. We will be returning home without this precious child. We are extremely sad.

Finally! We've finally received word that we can travel overseas in April to (Lord willing) bring the little girl we met in January to our home.
